The Pilot’s Peak Cabin Retreat
Pilot’s Peak Cabin Retreat (PPCR) is the name of the hillside haven we’ve created, name for its birdseye view of the famed Pilot Mountain Knob or Peak.
The PPCR cabin is an Adirondack style home situated on a hillside overlooking the All-American town of Pilot Mountain. The 50 acre tract of trees and fields that surrounds the cabin, are unlike any other in the area with a magnificent and mostly 360° view of the region.

We are delighted to be the owners and stewards of this beautiful setting where you can experience peace and privacy while enjoying amazing vistas of the region. From the Blue Ridge Mountains and the splendid Yadkin Valley where Daniel Boone hunted as a young man, to the Winston Salem skyline, big sky views delight and uplift.
Pilot Mountain – a Monadnock
Of course, the centerpiece of the panorama is Pilot Mountain. The Pilot Peak (as we call it), or Pilot Knob as it is commonly known, is actually a monadnock, one of the rarest geological formations on the planet.
Pilot Mt knob is called a monadnock – Physical Geography. a residual hill or mountain standing well above the surface of a surrounding peneplain.

The Cabin
The Pilot’s Peak cabin has 3 bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms.
- First floor master suite –
- includes queen bed
- large closet
- full bathroom –
- includes laundry area with washer and dryer
- Two bedrooms upstairs –
- 2nd BR with queen bed in one room
- 3rd BR has 2 twin beds
- plus 2 twin air beds on expandable frames
- 1 full bathroom in between these two upstairs bedrooms
- Powder room (half-bath) is on the lower level adjacent to the living room
We opened our cabin to guests in 2012 after improving the property and completely renovating the cabin. Since that time, we’ve welcomed hundreds of guests from near and as far away as England. We love being the hosts and ambassadors to the region that has such a rich history, beauty, bounty, and fine people.
Property Owners – The Aldersons
We are a family of five: two baby boomer parents in our 60’s, with two young adult “kids”, in their 20’s, both internationally adopted as toddlers, living near Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
We are the Alderson family:
- Coleman Alderson, born in WV – investor and investment education coach, land manager, and author of dystopic fiction Mountain Whispers series , set in the Appalachian mountains, and our master gardener
- LeAura Alderson, born in AL, raised in HI, creator, writer, editor, media publisher of multiple websites, including:

- GardensAll.com – Coleman is our master gardener
- RecipesAndMe.com – a website we bought and are having fun adding recipes to
- Devani Alderson, born in India, raised in NC (our daughter), freelance social media service provider
- Nikolai Alderson, born in Russia, raised in NC (our son), investor, investment coach-apprentice, profitable website owner of Labrottie.com
Homeschooling Family
Our kids were homeschooled for most of their school years. Our daughter, Devani, ran the social marketing aspects of our businesses as a part of her homeschooling project beginning around age 15, and growing that into serving other clients as well before moving off on her own.
Our son, Nikolai, is currently a primary mower and landscape gardener and caretaker of our property. He’s developing his cooking repertoire to fuel his ravenous appetite, while growing his own monetizing website. Nikolai is also actively engaged in investment coaching and education. In his spare time he enjoys writing fiction as a hobby with aspirations to become a novelist.
We’re a family of writers, authors, aspiring authors, entrepreneurs and product developers, running and growing our family enterprise. We’re actively gardening, including planting orchards on the PPCR property, invested in real estate and have developed and built properties in NC, WV and in Costa Rica.
